Environmentally Preferable Purchasing

SBWMA staff can help members learn about and employ environmentally preferable purchasing practices. For example, we can provide a Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle evaluation, or offer sessions covering recycled-content products. We can also provide policy samples.

The benefits of smart purchasing are many. They can help you meet state-mandated requirements for purchasing recycled products. You can help close the loop by buying recycled. And you can provide residents and businesses a tangible example that buying recycled is a wise investment.

County Buy Recycled Policy

San Mateo County has a policy for environmentally-minded purchasing. It seeks to balance fiscal responsibility with environmental sustainability and public and worker health, while rewarding suppliers who are environmentally conscious.
