Rate Incentives

The SBWMA encourages jurisdictions to implement a tiered refuse rate structure that increases as the amount disposed increases. This type of rate structure provides a financial incentive for customers to increase their recycling efforts and thereby reducing the amount disposed. The collection rates are reviewed annually by an independent audit firm with necessary adjustments recommended to jurisdictions.

Most recycling services are currently offered at no cost or reduced cost to customers.
