Multifamily RethinkWaste Nexus

Transforming the Way We Think about Trash

The holiday season is over, but this is a great time to commit to doing more to reduce your consumption of resources. Here are few great ideas:

Reduce :: Stop Junk Mail - Here's How

Junk mail is a waste. It is a huge waste of natural resources and your time. Sure, you can recycle junk mail, but it is even better to stop getting it.

You can take action to stop this waste, and it is much easier than you think. Go online or call and obtain the FREE Stop Junk Mail Kit.

Reuse :: Clean Out Your Closets to Make Way for Spring

You probably already lighten your load in your closets by cleaning them out each year, but why not start off the new year by also making a donation to some community groups who can benefit from your usable, but not currently used items.

Check with RecycleWorks, a program of San Mateo County, for ways to put your reusable items into good hands. Examples include Career Closet, Salvation Army, and Pick of the Litter, to name a few. These groups resell or give your usable items to those who can use them. Or, try online resources, such as FreeCycle.org or craigslist.org.

Recycle :: Recycle Your Christmas Tree and Boxes

Taking down that Christmas tree? Be sure to recycle it. Contact your property management to schedule a collection of your fresh tree by Allied Waste.

Got too many boxes? Recycle them. Flatten your boxes and put them in the mixed paper cart or bin. Your box may become a new box for the next item you receive.

Do your part to help the planet: reduce, reuse, and recycle!
