The list of 2020 Community Events is currently being finalized. Please check back in January 2020 for the complete list.
Community Shred & E-Scrap Recycling Events
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free Community Shred and Electronic Scrap (E-Scrap) events held annually by RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County on behalf of our participating Member Agencies.
Bring paper documents and confidential materials for safe and secure shredding done onsite.
Proof of residency in the City hosting the event is required. Limit 3 standard size bankers boxes (10″x12″x15″) per household. Shred events last until the time listed or until the truck is full, which ever comes first.
E-Scrap Recycling Events
Accepted items include: TVs, computers, printers, monitors, laptops, cables/cords, cell phones, MP3 and DVD players, and more (working or not).
Compost Giveaway Events
Recology and RethinkWaste team up with its member communities to annually give away compost made from yard trimmings and food scraps collected from residents and businesses in the service area. It’s a great soil amendment to enriching your plants and gardens. Residents in participating communities may take compost at no charge at select locations as long as supplies last (amount varies by community.) Citizens bring shovels, gloves, containers, and proof of residency, and leave with rich compost for their gardens. Can’t make it to an event? No worries, as we provide compost for free to residents year-round at our Shoreway Environmental Center. Learn more about the compost giveaway for residents, schools, and community groups here.
Events at Shoreway
RethinkWaste hosts two free community events every year. Earth Day @ Shoreway is held in the spring and Rethink Recycling Day is held in the fall. For more details, check out our Events at Shoreway page!
