Community Shred & E-Scrap Recycling Events

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free Community Shred and Electronic Scrap (E-Scrap) events held annually by RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County on behalf of our participating Member Agencies.

Check back here and on your city website before events to ensure they are still happening. Events may require pre-registration to attend.

Compost Giveaway Events

Recology and RethinkWaste team up with its member communities to annually give away compost made from yard trimmings and food scraps collected from residents and businesses in the service area. It’s a great soil amendment to enriching your plants and gardens.  Residents in participating communities may take compost at no charge at select locations as long as supplies last (amount varies by community.) Citizens bring shovels, gloves, containers, and proof of residency, and leave with rich compost for their gardens. Check out the list of current compost giveaway events at our events calendar. Can’t make it to an event? No worries, as we provide compost for free to residents year-round at our Shoreway Environmental Center. Learn more about the compost giveaway for residents, schools, and community groups here.
